SHADOW FELL AND FOLLOWED In solace, I awake The dim light stretches before me as a slow cancerous bleach Revealing a pallid, shapeless, day Shadows soften with the haze I stand, I watch, as it fades away And I welcome the grey But in the distance, I can still make it out A chaotic display of regurgitated thoughts, thrashing on the horizon It looks at me in anger, and with defeat With a glow that cuts through the fog, Beckoning my return I’m not immune to it, Skin still twitching, And sick in my throat Memories far from forgotten still tarnish my thoughts But I’ll keep walking away Further into the grey Pinching at skin, observing my escape Left sodden, and cold, and lost And I welcome this dismal day And another And the ones after With its shapeless grey
